I recently stumbled upon Carmen Claire Website and decided to pick up a few items. CarmenClaire is a brand whose main vision and product concept is to offer amazing cosmetic products for women who are in a hurry or for, I quote, “non-girly girl”. The brand centers on manufacturing products that are easy to use, “no fancy training required”, but is of amazing quality, and cruelty free. They also carry other brands too, Chamos Acaci is one of them. I really liked their vision and brand policies, so I decided to pick up two items.
Matte Pore Primer. – P850.
This one-of-a-kind makeup primer was scientifically formulated to wear alone or under BB cream and foundation powders for a look of flawless skin without makeup. Vitamins A & C,E and Retinol virtually banish pores while tired skin is left hydrated, firmer, and detoxified.
Designed to fill pores, lines and spots caused by troubles. Active ingredients soothes the trouble skin and suppress excessive sebum.
Primed & Poreless creates the perfect canvas to allow powders, BB Cream and foundations to slide seamlessly on the skin—delivering a flawless and perfectly blended look that stay in place all day. Skin appears brighter, fresher, and younger.
6 effects (It covers pores and fine wrinkles, compensates red skin, suppresses sebum, reinforces holding force of make-up and pacifies skin problems)
I was so psyched when I got this. It was the first Matte Primer I was adding to my collection, and with the many claims– suppresses sebum, compensate red skin, and make my make up last longer? Hell yeah! Gimme that!
However, this product left me underwhelmed and regretting my purchase. It did not live up to any of its claims at all.
It has a whipped silicone texture and is tinted slightly pink. It has a very smooth but oily feel, but be cautious of applying too much, it balls up if you do, and foundation will be harder to apply. You also have to give this tube a good shake, it wasn’t written in the instructions, but this product separates inside the tube.
Some kind of watery substance will squeeze out in large amounts of it if you don’t shake it. Some primers will also discard this water oily substance in small amounts when you first use it, but most of them will stabilise and not do this anymore, not this primer. So I can’t emphasize enough that you have to shake this product, or else the back of your hand will only be filled with this watery oily substance. Shake shake.
I only use this primer on areas where i need to keep my sebum in control, and no, it did not control my sebum in anyway. Didn’t really minimize my pore nor did it give me a flawless canvas to work with. Tube, what are you really for huh beh? It is a pass.
Hit or Miss? Miss.
Repurchase? Not gonna miss it. I don’t even think I can use it up.
Worth the try? No. Too expensive for the results it showed.
Next, let’s move on to something more unique.
Trouble Skin Solution -P750
A solution that is very effective to combat pimples, suppress the main cause of acne, skin calming effect, detoxification, enhancing immune cell activity, cleanse your skin, fight blemishes, prevent new ones from forming, gently heal damaged skin & effectively mitigates dark spots and scars left by troubled skin.
It is supposed to be suitable to use for acne prone skin, “pacifies skin problems instantly and eases scars caused by skin problems” (Carmen Claire, 2014) It is also supposed to naturally moisturise and suppress skin problems.
You are supposed to dip a q-tip in the solution and put it on those pesky pimples that loves to have a party on our oily faces every now and then. You have to wait for the powder to settle to the bottom of the jar. It should look like the picture below. Do not shake it. And if you accidentally do, wait for 24 – 30 hours before using it again.
I cannot say that this product works, because no, it does not “erase” the pimple overnight nor significantly reduces its size. It also stings once you put it on active pimples, and it wipes off when you sleep with it on. (Be sure to change you pillow covers.) However, it does have a skin calming effect. It also takes care of those pesky white heads. With continuous use (by that I mean, every other day for 2-3 months) I think it does make a difference, but it isn’t a miracle worker that erases those face demons overnight. It isn’t a must have, but it is worth the try. This product is not entirely unique. I saw some other Korean Brands that also make this kind of product for less. I can’t vouch for the quality, but I do suggest looking into your options. The pros of this product is that Carmen Claire does a wonderful job at customer service, is trustworthy, and ships products fast. So it is up to you to weight those factors in.
Hit or Miss? Hit.
